SFI first official Taiwan National League Division 2 match in Kaohsiung ended with a draw.
FC Kaohsiung scored the equalizer goal literally in the last minute of the additional time.
With a 2:1 lead, SFI players and coaches were waiting for the referee to end the match in the 92nd. minute. But, just before the sound of the whistle, the unthinkable happened. Kaohsiung FC's header goal from a corner made the final score FC Kaohsiung 2:2 SFI.
We received a video from CTFA from our first official match on March 5th., which we won in a penalty shootout.
S.F.I. in blue and white against Inter Taoyuan in yellow and black.
The video was taped by CTFA to keep records of the game, not for broadcast. Thus, the quality of this short clip is not great, but definitely fun to watch.
It's a great feeling to win with penalty kicks after a though 90 minute (0:0) match against a very strong team.
S.F.I. is happy to play in the Taiwan Football League Division 2 in the 2020 season. We started the per-season training, while we're still in the process of registering new players.
We're happy to be in the game.
Yesterday, some of our youth players took part in a training match with the PCCU university team.
We are grateful to the PCCU coach and players for supporting our youth players. This 90 minute training match was a positive and meaningful experience for our U14 - U15 players.
The traning match took place at Bailing pitch. We joined the PCCU regular scheduled Monday training. The university team is preparing for the second phase of the Taiwan University Cup games.
This type of training is important for our youth players. But, the only reason we could schedule this Monday training is because of the school break.
We hope we could start a regular weekday late afternoon training for the SFI youth (U14 – U17). If so, we can schedule more matches like this in 2020.
I (Coach Joe) was ready to write my match report about the Victory League match this morning against FC Tigers Red.
Then, my son Elod asked me if he could help me write it. Since he played in the match, I thought he could write the first draft. Then, I will rewrite it and post it.
He showed me what he wrote. After reading it, I decided to post it unedited. So, here it is, just the way he wrote it:
Match Report by Elod (U10 Player)
After 6 matches, SFI-U10 Blues still remains unbeaten with all the matches won. And, we are still the first place in the Victory League Championship.
SFI-U10 Blues - FC Tigers Red 1:0
Today, we faced FC Tigers Red. They also won all their games before facing us today.
This was a very tough match between two strong teams, and a very emotional match as well.
Both teams had some good chances. But, after a while, we tackled an opponent player inside the box.
FC Tigers Red got a penalty. Now, the referee blows the whistle. It was shot decently.
Louis, our goalkeeper, moved and got the ball in his hands and successfully saved the penalty!
All our supportive parents were very happy and cheering after the great save from Louis.
The referee blows the whistle to end the first half. It was a very even first half. Both teams had some good chances.
We were controlling more of the match in the second half than in the first half.
We had so many good chances. We could have scored a bunch of goals, but, we just couldn't finish and score.
After a while, we finally broke the ice!
Maceo, one of our strikers, received the ball in the box and shot an amazing goal!
All our players and parents were extremely happy. Now, we take the lead!
Continuing the match with a one goal advantage, we still had a lot of chances.
But, the opponent also had a couple of chances. Louis did amazing saves to stop them.
The referee blows the final whistle. The final score is 1:0. Here goes another victory for us.
Congratulations to our team for winning all matches and being the first place in the league!
Our next match will be after Chinese New Year, against Heartbreakers, on February 16th.
We wish you a Happy Chinese New Year.
We're happy to announce that S.F.I. signed an agreement with the Taipei City Government to adopt the Bailing A. pitch for 2020 and 2021.
We will have the whole pitch for our youth training program all day on Saturdays.
We are very excited about this. We will have a chance to organize more friendly matches and tournaments for all of our age groups on Saturdays.
Looking forward to seeing you all at Bailing for our first training in 2020 this Saturday, January 11th.
