While both SFI and FCBase-TA had chances to score, the first half ended 0:0. Learning from the first half, SFI made some adjustments in half time. As a result, the team scored 3 goals in the second half and conceded none. Thus, the final score was SFI 3:0 FCBase-TA.
In the 54th minute Jeh-Ming Jhang’s free kick bounced back from the wall, giving him another chance. He reacted quickly with a volley to Alberto Vale at the far post. The Brazilian player’s powerful header into the top left corner was impossible to defend. With Alberto’s header goal SFI took the lead.
After the first goal, SFI maintained more ball possession than in the first half. The team was more relaxed and focused. It only took only 10 minutes for SFI to score their second goal.
In the 64th minute, Matthew (Jia-Jui Ho) received the ball around 18 meters from FCBase-TA’s goal.
Matthew is a 17 year old Taiwanese player. He made his debut for SFI in the match against TJ-FC, where he scored a goal within one minute after getting on the pitch toward the end of the second half.
This time Matthew sent a perfect pass to Jeh-Ming Jhang, assisting him in SFI’s second goal of the match. As Jeh-Ming Jhang received the ball from Matthew, he did an incredible shot to curve the ball around the defenders into the bottom left corner to double the lead.
In the 87th minute SFI had another free kick on the right of the box, close to the touch line. Jeh-Ming Jhang shot the ball around the wall into the bottom left corner. The match ended with a 3:0 victory to maintain SFI's 1st place lead in the league.
Alexsandro Silva scored SFI’s first goal of the match in the 3rd minute from Jeh-Ming Jhang’s 20 meter through pass. Silva received Jeh-Ming’s pass exactly at the right spot with only the TJ-FC goalkeeper between the ball and the goal line. Silva’s first touch sent the ball into TJ-FC’s net. SFI was one goal ahead after 3 minutes.
14 minutes later, SFI centre back Renato Lopes passed the ball into an empty space inside the TJ-FC box. Similarly to the first goal, Silva slammed the ball into the bottom right corner to score his second goal of the match in the 17th minute; thus, doubling SFI's lead.
SFI scored the third goal 3 minutes after the second goal (the 22nd minute).
This time, another one of the 4 SFI Brazilian players, Joao Sousa moved the ball into the box where the TJ-FC the defender had to foul to stop him. The referee pointed to the penalty spot right away without hesitation. Alberto Vale, the Brazilian attacking midfielder took the penalty. The goalie blocked Vale’s shot, but the ball bounced back to him and he quickly tapped in. The score was 3:0 in the 22nd minute.
Fast forward to the 72nd minute, SFI put 17 year old Taiwanese attacking midfielder Jia-Jui Ho (Matthew) on the pitch. This was Matthew’s debut in the adult league. And, it was certainly a remarkable first appearance. Less than 2 minutes after Matthew stepped on the pitch, he scored his first ever goal in an adult league. Amadou Jallow crossed the ball from the left wing for Matthew, who controlled it perfectly, and scored a volley into the top left corner. He made it look easy.
Just before the end, SFI’s Korean left back, Hyun-Jin Kim ran up with the ball on the left side of the box, and (from an almost impossible angle) kicked the ball into the top left corner, to hand SFI the 5th and final goal of the match. SFI won the match deservedly with a 5:0 final score.
It was obvious after the first 5 minutes that this match will be a though battle. Both teams were fully committed to win this game. It was clear that any mistakes on either side would be punished immediately by the opponent.
In the 43rd minute, it was a MCU corner. MCU is specialized in short corners. SFI knew about this and tried to defend against it. But, the ball bounced out after the unsuccessful short corner attempt. Since an SFI defender touched the ball, MCU had a second chance with another short corner. This time, after the ball was bouncing around a couple of times, MCU #10 Yao-Hsing Yu quickly reacted and tapped the ball in the SFI goal. MCU took a one goal lead with only a couple of minutes left before half time.
One minute later (in the 45th minute), MCU #2 Yu-Hao Liu received the ball from a throw-in inside their own box. Alexsandro Silva started pressing the defender right away. Due to what it seemed like a miscommunication, the MCU goalkeeper Yung-Sheng Li was completely outside his goal area. Not knowing who to pass to, Yu-Hao Liu hesitated for a second, which was enough time for Silva to kick the ball away from the defender, directly into the MCU net. With Silva’s goal, the first half ended 1:1.
In the 57th minute, SFI’s Wen-Han Syu sent a perfect cross in front of SFI attacking midfielder Kun-Wei Wang. SFI took the lead when Kun-Wei lifted the ball over the head of the goalkeeper, directly in the MCU net.
Although the fierce battle continued between the two teams with several chances on both sides, there were no more goals in the game. SFI won the match. The final score was SFI 2:1 MCU.

Inter Taoyuan's one goal lead lasted only for 21 seconds. After the kick-off, Alexsandro Silva ran through the Inter midfield with the ball, all the way to the edge of the box. Silva passed the ball to Cheng-Jui Chang who’s powerful shot caught the Inter goalkeeper by surprise.
With Cheng-Jui Chang’s goal, the first half ended 1:1.
Just a minute after the second half started, SFI Gambian attacking midfielder Amadou Jallow sent a perfect pass from the right wing to the danger zone in front of Inter’s goal. Silva’s timing was spot on, as he tapped the ball in the net; thus, handing SFI the 2:1 lead.
In the 59th minute, Inter’s Japanese midfielder, Shinya Okada sent a long cross into the box. After bouncing around, the ball landed in front of the Inter’s Indonesian striker, Edi Rintoko. The Indonesian shot and scored the equalizer.

Then, in the 79th minute Alberto Vale, SFI’s Brazilian midfielder dribbled his way to the edge of the Inter box. He was fouled before he could go any further.
Joao Sousa, the Brazilian defensive midfielder knew that this free kick could win the match for SFI. Sousa is a specialist in these kinds of free kicks. He was concentrating for a few seconds, then kicked the ball over the wall, curving it to enter Inter’s goal, just slightly inside the near post. Ending a difficult year on a positive note
SFI originally signed Kodai in March 2020. But, the Japanese player couldn’t enter Taiwan because of Covid 19 travel restrictions. Kodai had to wait until mid-August before he could finally fly to Taipei and join the SFI squad, after two weeks of quarantine. Thus, he missed most of the first round.
A player with determination and perseverance
In the second round of Taiwan Football League Division 2, Kodai delivered an excellent performance with SFI-Saturday Football International FC. His exceptional ability, impressive technical skills and superb attitude makes him the outstanding centre-back he is.
SFI is looking forward to developing the 21 year old player in 2021 and beyond. The club will continue promoting his skills and competencies to ensure the achievement of his competitive success.
SFI is considering loan agreement offers for the Japanese player from Europe and Asia. But, no decision has been made yet. The club is still keen to find the best international loan or transfer opportunities for Kodai.
SFI v CPC match ended in a draw on Saturday
CPC is a strong professional football team. But, they couldn't win this match against SFI.
In the middle of the first half, SFI's Japanese forward, Daiki Jahana scored his first goal in Taiwan. SFI maintained that one goal lead until the 90 minutes game time ended.
But, in the extra time, an SFI defender had an injury; thus, leaving the team with one less player on the pitch. By the time the SFI substitute player finally got on the pitch, it was too late. CPC scored their equalizer goal in the 93rd minute, while SFI had only 10 players. The final score was 1-1.
About the first round.
There is no doubt, SFI not only survived the calamities of the first round of this league, but the team got stronger. In July, the club lost the match against CPC 7-0. Obviously, there is a huge difference between the 7-0 in July and 1-1 in October.
The Taiwan Division 2 second round started this weekend.
During the transfer window we dropped a total of 18 players and signed 17 new players. Currently the SFI-1 Division 2 adult team has 33 registered players for the league.
The first match in the first round in July we had a 2:2 draw against Kaohsiung FC. But, this Saturday, October 3rd, we won against them 4:0.
With the changes we implemented during the transfer window, we made our team stronger.
